Week 5: Camp GonnawannaGOagin’ (ages 6 – 18)

August 5, 2022 @ 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM

CAMP GONNAWANNAGOAGIN’ 2022
Who: ASD Campers and Volunteers!
Campers must be between the ages of 6-18 years old and have a diagnosis of Autism. Volunteers must be between 10-17 years old.
What: Camp GonnawannaGOagin’- FACT hosts a fun-filled, action-packed day camp in Virginia Beach for individuals ages 6 and up with the primary diagnosis of autism. Camp GonnawannGOagin’ is a haven from the daily struggles of learning, communicating with, and interpreting the world around them. We firmly believe that “children with autism are children first.” Camp GonnawannGOagin’ offers everything a day camp for typical children would offer and activities will be coordinated according to weather and COVID restrictions.
Where: To Be Confirmed – Tentatively @ Virginia Wesleyan University
When:
Week 1 = June 27-July 1 (6-18 years old)
Week 2= July 11-15 (6-18 years old)
Week 3= July 18-22 (13 and older)
Week 4= July 25-29 (13 and older)
Week 5= August 1-5 (6-18 years old)
Week 6= August 8-12 (6-18 years old)
How:
· Completing an application DOES NOT automatically confirm a spot in camp. FACT will confirm your registration and spot after reviewing your application and all components of the application are submitted.
· If all spots are filled, please continue to complete the application. You will be placed on a wait-list and will be notified if/when spots become available for your child to participate in camp. We try to accommodate all participants and try to get everyone at least 1 week of camp.
· Campers are able to attend a maximum of 2 weeks.
· If applying for two weeks and qualify for free and reduced lunch, the second week will be at full tuition (reduced pricing only applies for one week). Military and Sibling reduced rates can apply for both weeks.
COVID-19 INFORMATION:
As always, we have camper, staff, and volunteer safety in mind and are monitoring all things COVID-19. We will continue to have sanitization, precautions, and cleaning in place to reduce the chance of spreading COVID-19. FACT will encourage all campers to wear a mask, but understand that there are reasons campers may not be able to wear one. This will not hinder their chances to be accepted to camp. Behaviors that involve the spreading of bodily fluids (spitting, toileting behaviors, etc.) may require admission with stricter precautions in place (or may not be able to be admitted at this time).
