Book Club – The Art of Extreme Self-Care by Cheryl Richardson
January 16, 2022 @ 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM at Shine Yoga
Join us in the studio to explore ideas from a different book each month.
This month, we are diving into The Extreme Art of Self-Care: 12 Practical and Inspiring Ways to Love Yourself More by Cheryl Richardson.
“For the last 20 years I’ve dedicated my personal and professional life to the importance of self-care by teaching from my own experience,” writes Cheryl Richardson. “In the past, I’ve sacrificed my health and my relationships for work, given to others at the expense of my own needs, and watched my dreams slip through the cracks of a busy life. As a result, I’ve learned a lot about what it takes to put an end to the madness…. From years of personal experience, as well as coaching great men and women, I’ve come to understand that selfishness leads to selflessness. When we care deeply for ourselves, we naturally begin to care for others – our families, our friends, our greater global community, and the environment – in a healthier and more effective way. We tell the truth. We make choices from love instead of guilt and obligation. And we soon realize that we’re all connected and that our individual actions affect a greater whole.”
This updated edition of Cheryl’s best-selling handbook The Art of Extreme Self-Care brings her message home to listeners with a new section about forming and running a successful support group, as well as updated resources so listeners stay inspired and motivated. Her practical, action-oriented program outlines 12 strategies to transform your life one month at a time, each one challenging you to alter one behavior that’s blocking your path. Chapters include “End the Legacy of Deprivation”, “Find Your Passion”, “The Absolute No List”, and “Does That Anger Taste Good?” (Hint: it really doesn’t.)

Alan has kindly agreed to talk with Cos about autistic gardening and expressing himself through colourful attire and make up.
Cos Michael got her autism diagnosis aged 50 and advocates for more knowledge about autism and ageing. After a career in theatre and broadcasting she spent several years leading NAS Autism and Ageing projects, and now works as an autism and ageing consultant and trainer. Cos speaks at conferences in the UK and abroad.
There will be Q&As following the conversation.
Please join us for what promises to be a fascinating conversation and Q&A session!
This is one of an occasional series of autism-related talks offered by AutAngel, which is a community interest company run by and for autistic adults. We rely on the generosity of your contributions to provide these talks, and we want them to be available to all so the tickets are by donation.
It’s important to us to be able to welcome people regardless of financial means; however we have significant running costs, so we ask that if, if you are able to, you donate a minimum of £5.00.
We send a recording to everyone who gets a ticket for the event. It helps us if you let us know if you aren’t planning to attend live.
Sign up here for occasional updates about our online talks and other events.

Its important to us to be able to welcome people regardless of financial means however we have significant running costs, so we ask that if, if you are able to, you donate a minimum of £5.00.
We send a recording to everyone who gets a ticket for the event. It helps us if you let us know if you aren’t planning to attend live.
Sign up here for occasional updates about our online talks and other events.
We love sharing community events. Please check with the host before venturing out 😉
