When my one year old puppy got me up this morning at 5:30, I could have never imagined how much fun we were going to have today!!!
I had been waiting for this day for quite some time! AND, it was finally here. Today was the day! The day we were going ice skating with our local Autism Society at MacArthur on Ice. We were set to leave about 10am to meet Vania O’Keefe (TASA President) at 10:45. With 30 – 5 gallon buckets loaded in the back of our Tahoe, we were off!
We arrived and watched the Admirals do their magic on the ice. They are soooo cool. So patient, kind, and FUN!!! At 11am Donald Squires, the General Manager of MacArthur on Ice, made the announcement we were waiting to hear. It was our turn to hit the ice! My son, Connor, went out and immediately Admirals player #89 was at his side, helping him learn how to skate! It was like that the whole time we were there-the guys were simply amazing! Then, player #9 made the kids SOAR. He pushed them so fast, it was like they were FLYING!
The best was when they all went and made over one of our kids in a wheelchair. She got to on the ice, too! Again, player #9, made it fun by spinning her around 🙂 AND, so many families came out today…almost 25! I can’t wait for the next event!
